Promotion & Membership Committee

 

The Promotion & Membership Committee is responsible for membership-related issues or special projects that requires discussion, research, and recommendations for association membership business which includes building ACSSW membership, membership dues, and the promotion of ACSSW in the counseling field and large mental health profession.

 

The Promotion & Membership Committee:

  • Promotes the benefits of ACSSW membership

  • Identifies issues important to members

  • Evaluates current and potential products and services

  • Works to enhance the value of ACSSW membership

  • Investigates equitable due structures

Tanisha R. James, LCSW, LCASA (she/her)

Tanisha R. James, LCSW, LCASA holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Queens University of Charlotte and a Master degree in Social Work from UNC-Charlotte. Licensed since 2007, she has enjoyed working in a variety of therapeutic settings to include private practice, military installations, and                  community mental health. Other practice interests include clinical supervision, training on ethics in counseling, and licensure exam preparation. She has received advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy since 2016 and enjoys helping couples recover from affairs, increase intimacy, and               improve their sex lives. Ms. James is currently an Adjunct Faculty at Fayetteville State University and enjoys teaching the next generation of social workers.  In addition, she enjoys giving back to the community and the profession by providing volunteer counseling services for military servicemen               and their families through the nationally recognized Give an Hour program.

Committee Update Reported at ACSSW Annual Meeting 03/30/2023:

  1. 60% increase in membership since January 2022.

  2. Started "Wet Wednesdays" to provide educational sexual health information via social media.

  3. Membership includes a wide variety from new to senior career mental health professionals as well as students.

  4. The committee provides updates on both Facebook and Instagram as well as posts updates on CESNET of upcoming webinars.
