Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we share the news that Dr. Mark Pope, ACSSW Trustee, passed away the end of January, 2023. Dr. Pope has a long and amazing history in ACA and was a trail blazer with regards to the LGBTQ+ community and so much more. There is much to be said about his many accomplishments, however, for those of us who have been in ACSSW from the beginning and in the inner workings, Dr. Pope was more like the ACSSW godfather. He encouraged, supported, and challenged us along the way.

There is no question that ACSSW would not be where it is today if it hadn’t been for Dr. Pope’s support and guidance.​There are many of us in ACSSW who will be deeply affected by Dr. Pope’s loss. Frankly, anyone who knew Dr. Pope will miss his gentle, fun-loving ways. ACSSW has truly lost a guiding force.
