The ACSSW Newsletter

The ACSSW Newsletter is published quarterly (Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall).  The newsletter includes information on the activities in ACSSW as well as education/training opportunities and current research/literature focused on sexuality and sexual wellness as it relates to the counseling profession and wider community. Each issue of the ACSSW newsletter is posted on the ACSSW website (www.counselingsexology.com) and also mailed out electronically to the membership.

ACSSW Newsletter Submissions must be:

  • No more than 1500 words

  • Grounded in peer reviewed research/content

  • Confirm to the most APA standards

  • Concise yet with enough detail to provide clarity

  • May not have been previously published

  • May not be forthcoming in an archival journal or book (print or electronic)

The ACSSW newsletter is not a peer reviewed journal, but we do have editors who review the submissions for grammatical errors and ensure the article is in keeping with ACSSW principles and guidelines.  The ACSSW newsletter editorial team requires that all authors follow the most current ACA Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.

The newsletter supports the use of gender-neutral pronouns, including the singular “they.”

ACSSW Position Statements

The ACSSW Social Justice & Advocacy Committee works with counselors, other divisions, and the American Counseling Association to provide responses to Human Rights violations and make members aware what actions they can take to help.

All ACSSW position statements are reviewed and approved by the ACSSW Board of Directors.

Handbook for Human Sexuality Counseling: A Sex Positive Approach

The Handbook for Sexuality Counseling is co-edited by ACSSW leaders and the chapters are authored by experts in the field of counseling sexology, many of whom are ACSSW members.
